[December 30, 2015] Daesung Group (Younghoon David Kim, Chairman) invited around 650 underprivileged children to its ‘Concert of Love’ held at Konkuk University’s New Millennium Hall on December 29th, 2015. The ‘Concert of Love’ which is celebrating its 13th anniversary, is Daesung Group’s way of sharing love and support between its employees and underprivileged children.

The main purpose of this cultural event is to inspire hopes and dreams by providing culturally enriching experiences such as plays and musicals to children that may not have had the chance to enjoy them. This year Daesung Group selected a performance by the Ewha Womans University Ballet titled ‘The Messiah’, a long-running ballet performed over the past 10 years. ‘The Messiah’ is praised for its fantastic imagery, detailed psychological portrayals and dramatic storytelling. At the ‘Concert of Love’, it was reconstituted as a 40 minute performance for children to enjoy easily.

Besides the performance, the children also had the opportunity to show their own talents. Eight teams from children community centers participated in a talent show consisting of K-POP dance, djembe drumming, and sign language songs.

In line with Daesung Group’s vision of “Warming bodies, Warming hearts,” the employees worked as volunteers at the event. Employees welcomed the children with balloons and snacks in the lobby and enjoyed dinner together. At the end of the event, they embraced the Christmas spirit by sharing presents such as clothes, books and stationery items with the children.

Chairman Younghoon David Kim who attended the event commented, “I was very pleased to share warmth with the children who showed beautiful smiles even in the face of difficulties. We will take further initiatives to encourage their dreams through cultural programs such as the ‘Concert of Love’ as well as educational programs such as our science camp.”
