Title [News] Korea.Com, Remodeled as Korea's First Multi-Lingual Portal Website 2006.05.18

FROM:

Korea.Com, a subsidiary of Daesung Group (Chairman David Younghoon Kim), will be launching English, Japanese, and Chinese sites on May 17. Henceforth, when users from overseas connect to Korea.Com, they will be automatically directed to the specific language site that corresponds to the language of the users' web browser. While other similar portal sites such as Naver, Daum and Yahoo! have operated portal websites in different languages through their overseas corporations, this is the first time a portal website is offering an automatic connectivity service to its multi-lingual sites. In its initial phase, the non-Korean language sites of Korea.Com will provide information on Korean current affairs, culture, travel destinations and gradually expand its services to provision of in-depth information on Korean history, geography, and financial information for investors. In addition to the above information service, Korea.Com is planning to set up a community where users will be able to discuss various issues online. Chairman David Younghoon Kim said, "In anticipation of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Daesung Group in 2007, this year will be significant as we will start to see many of our projects begin to bear fruit, including our drive towards full fledged globalization. As one of Daesung Group's next generation strategic enterprises, Korea.Com will serve as a unique gateway to Korea and at the same time, the site will provide quality information from overseas in Korean ultimately serving as a "two-way portal site." In the future, look for Korea.Com to expand its multi-lingual services to include other languages.
