This book was published by Daesung Dot Com.Co.,Ltd in October 2004, depicting the life of Reverend Gi-Cheul Choo, who walked through the oppressive times of Korea’s church history with his sincere faith to God. The book was written by his son, Elder Gwang-jo Choo, and it stirred a wave of emotion among readers. The book gives a vivid description of Reverend Choo, who carried his cross through martyrdom. It also conveys the life of the author’s mother, Jung-mo Oh, and the members of Sanjunghyun church, who devotedly supported Reverend Choo with prayers, and the account of the son Gwang-jo Choo, who suffered from aphasia as a result of witnessing the gruesome torture inflicted on his father by the Japanese. Moreover, for the book contains respectful ‘forbidden sermon’ also known as ‘ The authority of the prophet,’ and another sermon which was close to being a will called ‘My five prayers’ which was delivered before 2000 church members, one can experience his life of faith and belief through reading the book. At the time of its first publication, while inciting a stir of deep emotion as well as providing good lessons, it entered the top rank of books as a bestseller in various well-known bookstores in Seoul including Kyobo, Lifebook and Youngpoong bookstores. Furthermore, the book has been extremely influential and has been contributing to spreading the story of Reverend Choo to the second generation of Koreans overseas in regions including America and Europe. |
