Daesung Group (CEO & Chairman David Younghoon Kim), specialized in cultural and energy businesses, announced Thursday to sign up the investment agreement for the Escapade Pictures' a new cult horror comedy film titled, "Black Sheep" in Seoul today. Daesung forged a partnership with Park Road Post, the cutting edge digital post-production facility in New Zealand last March for establishing the relationship of strategic alliance. Daesung's investment in "Black Sheep" is being watched with keen interest in Korean and international film markets as the first feature film financed under a new business alliance. Black Sheep is being produced by Phillippa Campbell of Escapade Pictures, one of NZ's most active independent feature film producers and design work for the project will be provided by Oscar-winning Weta Workshop. Black Sheep is set in New Zealand where 4 million human inhabitants are hugely outnumbered by 40 million sheep. A troubled young man returns to his home and, through a series of tests, finds the inner strength to stand up for core values that are the fundaments of his family heritage ?an empathy with and care for the land and a respect for and ability to work cooperatively with others. It is known that Daesung Group participates in this film as an equity partner and through this investment it is said that Daesung Group will have the sales rights of major Asia areas such as Korea, Japan, and China etc. UK, Australian and New Zealand rights have been sold to Icon Distribution while Jiants has acquired Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia. A joint Investment Announcement Ceremony will be held at the Opening Night of the New Zealand Film Festival on 13th of October at Seoul Art Cinema, guests will include the CEO of Daesung Group, David Younghoon Kim: the CEO of Park Road Post, Sue Thompson: New Zealand ambassador to Seoul, David Taylor and Kathleen Drumm of the New Zealand Film Commission and others. Prime Minister Helen Clark visited Seoul in 2003 as part of a joint promotion of the New Zealand and Korean film industries said, "I am delighted to see that the business alliance between Park Road Post and Daesung has resulted in an investment in upcoming Kiwi horror movie, BLACK SHEEP. This alliance is exactly the kind of partnership that we hoped would come from the 2003 trade mission which accompanied me to Korea. I congratulate all those involved and look forward to seeing the film which results".
