Daesung eyes virtual gateway in ‘Korea.com’


It would be tough to ask for a better Internet address than Korea.com (www.korea.com), but through numerous ownership changes and service renewals over the past years, the website has continued to find just enough reasons to stay irrelevant.

Kim Young-hoon, chairman and chief executive of energy giant Daesung Group, which has been operating Korea.com since 2006, says he is desperate to ending the streak of underachieving, but also confident that his website is ripe for a breakthrough after finally acquiring an identity to set itself apart from the others.

Korea.com underwent dramatic changes to its facade and content recently, including the launching of a full-blown English site that is heavy on entertainment, technology, tourism, and health and beauty related content that features a wealth of images and videos. Chinese and Japanese versions of the site are expected to be launched soon.
