FROM: JoongAng Daily [JoongAng Daily- December 20] Solar-powered plant to be built in Daegu Daesung Group, an energy-focused conglomerate, said yesterday it will build a solar thermal power plant in southeastern Korea as part of government efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The tower-type plant with 200 kilowatts of generation capacity will be built at a site near the city of Daegu, 302 kilometers southeast of Seoul, Daesung said in a statement. The Ministry of Knowledge Economy and two private companies will invest a total of 11.6 billion won ($89.8 million) to build the plant by 2010, according to the statement.
