[January 9, 2014] Daesung Skype (skype.daesung.com) has announced the enhancement of its online payment system so that it will run without Active-X on its English, Chinese and Japanese websites.

Previously online purchases of Skype products were only possible after the installation of Active-X. Therefore purchase on an OS other than Windows was impossible meaning that foreigners who did not have Active-X installed on their PCs experienced inconveniences in purchasing Skype products.

Non Active-X payments are only available on Daesung Skype’s English, Chinese and Japanese websites, and only for those who use VISA, MASTER, JCB and AMEX credit cards.

Junyeol Lee, Senior Director of Daesung Skype Communication Services noted “This service upgrade is meant to provide convenient Skype services for all users, including over 12 million foreign visitors and 1 million foreign workers in Korea” adding “Through the introduction of the new payment system, Skype will be vastly improved for foreigners who use MAC and Tablet PCs.”

Daesung Skype is currently developing the same payment system in English, Chinese and Japanese for mobile. Continuous upgrades to Skype will also be made in order to provide better service.
