[April 1, 2014] The Chairman of Daesung Group, Younghoon David Kim, who recently won the Seo Sangdon Award, donated the entire amount of his prize money to the Korea Energy Foundation (Jonggeun Park, Chairman of the Board) to be used to support energy welfare projects.

Myoungchun Yeom, Secretary-General of the Korea Energy Foundation said, “We greatly appreciate both Chairman Kim’s donation and his payment of the tax on the prize. We will use the donation for those who suffer from energy poverty, as Mr. Kim intended.”
 
Chairman Kim was honored with the 8th Seo Sangdon Award on March 18, 2014 for his contribution to national economic development through the successful hosting of 22nd World Energy Congress last year in October. The bi-annual award, which comes with a cash prize of W20,000,0000, was established by The Foreign Debt Redemption Movement Committee and the Maeil Shinmun (a major Daegu newspaper).

The Korea Energy Foundation plans to use the donation to either renovate or provide heating equipment to disadvantaged villages and social welfare organizations.
