Delivers Special Speech at EDF’s International Water & Energy Conference
- Calling for active participation at the 7th World Water Forum in Daegu, Korea
- Also Scheduled to attend WEC’s Annual Executive Assembly as Co-chair
[October 20, 2014] – Younghoon David Kim, the Chairman of Daesung Group, will attend the annual Executive Assembly of the World Energy Council (WEC), to be held in Cartagena, Columbia for four days, starting October 20. Following this, he will be giving a special speech at the International Water & Energy Conference, hosted by Électricité de France (EDF), which will be held in Lyon, France from October 29 to 31 in preparation for the World Water Forum to be held in Daegu, South Korea in 2015.
In his capacity as co-chair of WEC, Chairman Kim will be participating in a range of meetings held at the organization’s 2014 Executive Assembly. Specifically, he will be discussing such topics as the establishment of sustainable energy systems and international cooperation during the standing committee meetings and at the EA itself. Another important agenda item is the selection of the next host country for the 2019 World Energy Congress. The cities bidding to host the event are Rio de Janeiro and Abu Dhabi. The 2016 World Energy Congress, at which Mr. Kim will become WEC Chair, is scheduled to be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
After the WEC Executive Assembly, Chairman Kim will be moving to Lyon, France where he has been invited to give a special speech at the International Water & Energy Conference hosted by EDF. During his speech, he will be providing updates on the progress of preparations for the 7th World Water Forum to be held in Daegu in April 2015, and calling for the active participation of the global leaders at this event.
“Water is vital to life. A comprehensive approach is required in the development and management of water resources because this has a far-reaching effect on food and energy production. During the World Water Forum in Daegu next year, over 35,000 experts from a variety of fields are expected to attend and to discuss new ways to address the issue of water scarcity.” Chairman Kim said before his departure to Cartagena.
