Daesung Group’s Volunteer Club ‘Gruteogi’
Commended by Ministry of Health and Welfare
in the ‘2014 National Social Welfare Competition’
- Recognized for its 10-years of community support for a local
rehabilitation center and local residents in need
[December 11, 2014] Gruteogi, the in-house volunteer club of Daesung Energy, the major subsidiary of Daesung Group, received a commendation from the Ministry of Health and Welfare at ‘2014 National Social Welfare Competition, for its unwavering support of the local community. The event was hosted by the Korea National Council on Social Welfare and sponsored by the Ministry of Health & Welfare.
The purpose of the competition was to discover notable contributors to social welfare and foster a giving and sharing culture in society by encouraging their work. The commendations are given to the contributory organizations in community social welfare.
Established to support employee volunteer work in April, 2005, Gruteogi has been a continuous supporter of local welfare projects for over 10 years by holding monthly picnics, its volunteer work, and for the hosting of birthday parties for mentally challenged in the local rehabilitation center. Gruteogi is also credited with many other volunteer programs including health monitoring work with the Daegu Counseling Center for the Poor, where they regularly check the health status of local residents.
Han Seung-hun, the chair of Gruteogi and chief manager at Daesung Energy, said “We have gladly shared what we have with our warm-hearted staff members for about 10 years and we will happily continue to share our hopes and dreams with others in need,” promising to expand their volunteer work even further.
As the leading energy company in Daegu, Daesung Energy has dedicated itself to a variety of CSR activities funded by company employees including briquette donation and soup kitchens.
